The article presents a folktale in Koroshi glossed and translated into English. To date, Koroshi is an almost undescribed variant belonging to the Iranian language family. The present investigation of Koroshi was carried out in 2009 and gives at hand that there are far more speakers of this variant of Balochi than what is stated in the Ethnologue, where the figure about 200 speakers is given.
The analysis of Koroshi texts makes it clear that Koroshi is a dialect of Balochi heavily influenced by Persian. It is spoken in several provinces of southern Iran, but the present investigation was carried out in the Fars province.
