Abstract [en]

This paper presents an analysis of the way research in business administration and economics has been presented in Sweden since the end of the 19th century onwards. It shows that in both fields presentation has changed in terms of (1) focus, (2) way of expression, (3) form and (4) language. There has thus been a change in focus of the scientific work from practical problems to theoretical approaches. In terms of the way of expression there has been a clear move from the earlier use of prose only to formalization. At the same time there has been a change in the form of presentation from the writing monographs to the publishing of journal articles and a transition of the selected language from primarily Swedish into English. All these tendencies can be said to be more pronounced among economists than among their colleagues in business administration.
