The ice conditions in Kattegat is started based upon ice-sheet and a model worked out of Anders Omstedt, 1990. During several ice winters, ruffly on 4 to 5 years cycle, ice may form in the Kattegat. This is due to a combination of meteorological and oceanographic conditions. The combination of cooling weather and outflowing brackish water from The Baltic Sea is in favour of ice formation in the Kattegat.
For the heat loss or gain to the water/air inerface, the net heat energy balance needs to be considered. ln that balance severel different fluxes between water and air are important.
