Respons till Matti Myllykoski
Uppsala University, Humanistisk-samhällsvetenskapliga vetenskapsområdet, Faculty of Theology, Department of Theology.

Abstract [en]

A brief response to a paper by Matti Myllykoski published in the same volume on pp. 339-355: Varken judar eller kristna? Tidig kristen identitet utom och inom judendomen. (Neither Jews nor Christians? Early Christian Identity within or outside Judaism). Both paper and repsonse were presented at the Exegetical Day in Uppsala 2004. In the response, Stenström draws attention to two concepts used by Myllykoski, "identity" and "tradition" that could be further clarified and developed. Stenström also shows that the issues of power, in the construction of Christian identity and in the construction of identity when scholars investigate Early Christian identities, deserve more attention than in Myllykoski's paper, as well as the role of gender in constructions of Early Christian identity.
