Abstract [en]

This paper aims to argue for the acceptance of an Ezidi ethnic identity. The author dissects the concept of ‘ethnicity’ into its composite parts and demonstrates the Ezidi position unique to each. The author concentrates criticism on the main criterion for exogenous Ezidi ethnic identification as Kurds: language. The importance of belief and self-belief is the final capstone under which the composite parts, including language, are reassembled to create a unique Ezidi ethnicity.
