Abstract [en]

It has become increasingly important for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to work with sustainability and environmental questions in order to remain competitive. Miljöbron is a nonprofit organisation which works to encourage and support environmental work in SMEs. It is therefore important for Miljöbron to obtain answers regarding the effectiveness of their collaborations in order for them to know how to develop and structure future collaborations. A survey method was used to gain insight into how these collaborations have impacted the environmental work of a number of SMEs which have collaborated with Miljöbron. The results of this survey were presented and analysed using the Tobit model. The most significant results indicated that certain aspects of “successful” collaborations with Miljöbron lead to improved environmental work for SMEs and that, based on previous research and theories, Miljöbron seems to be using the optimal operating method as an intermediary pushing for higher levels of sustainability efforts. The results of this survey highlight the need for future research on this topic.
