Policy impediments to FDI in Egypt
Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
In this paper an attempt is made to assess the Egyptian government's role with regard to Egypt's FDI climate by focusing on three areas of economic policy: the exchange rate, protectionism and the public sector/institutional environment. Judging from the findings of this paper all three areas of economic policy contain impediments to a favourable FDI climate. Moreover, there seems to exist a bias against export-oriented FDI which is the category of investments that appears to be the most desirable in the context of Egypt's official aspirations to achive export-led growth.
