The Roots of the Domain of Entrepreneurship Research
2008 (English)Conference paper (Refereed)
The rapidly growing domain of entrepreneurship has lacked a clear statement of fundamental assumptions to guide theoretical development. In this paper, we delineate a set of assumptions about the individual we see as central to the domain and the development of theory that is distinct and consistent across various branches and applications. We suggest that a set of commonly accepted assumptions that harmonizes with the phenomena under study is of critical importance for entrepreneurship to develop into a distinct and vigorous domain of social science.
