I Heard There Was a Secret Chord : Virtual togetherness through digital and interactive works of art (English)
Abstract [en]

Interactivity and/or digital elements are becoming more and more common in contemporary art. The aim of the study is to explore this particular type of art through the example of I Heard There Was a Secret Chord by the design studio Daily Tous Les Jours. The chosen work of art highlights how participatory culture, co-creation, and digital tools are used to enable immersive, intermedial, and constantly ongoing works of art that are continually changing in relation to its participants. In addition, the study explores how elements of cultural significance in the chosen artwork have an impact on the ways in which the work of art is perceived and received. The study demonstrates how works of art such as I Heard There Was a Secret Chord can be viewed as media products and, seen through that lens, how interactive works of art that exist both in physical and virtual spaces take place in society.
