To Take Us Lands Away is a Festschrift in honour of Margaret R. Hunt, Professor of History at Uppsala University. The essays in this book span a wide range of locations in both time and place, reflecting the breadth of Hunt’s scholarly interests and the far reach of her professional network. Many of the contributions revolve around topics, themes, and questions that have been central to Hunt’s research, such as marital and gender relations in early modern times, legal systems, class formation, maritime history, human–animal encounters, and travel narratives and encounters. In addition, the book includes a contribution by her former classmates from graduate school at NYU, reflecting on her life and work.
