Abstract [en]

Since the occupation started in Palestine in 1967, Palestinians have been facing struggles and losses under an ongoing occupation. Continuously and step by step Palestinians are losing land and violence determines all aspect of life. Moreover, the Israeli occupation threatens to delete the traditionally Palestinian identity, however women contribute with a vibrant renewal of Palestinian identity. This in spite of that they are living under double ordeals, firstly the occupation and secondly in a patriarchal society.

This is a qualitive research based on interviews with women living in the West Bank, Palestine. The aim of this research is to explore how Palestinian women talk about living in the West Bank.  Further, this research explores different coping strategies that Palestinian women may use when facing life struggles. Religion is important to many Palestinians, and subsequently the question what role religion plays in their life will be raised and discussed.
