Predators Gone Wild?: Scottish Mountaineer
2008 (English)Other (Other academic)
Abstract [en]

Proposals to release the ‘Big Five’ - wolves, lynx, bison, boar and bear - into a 50,000 acre enclosure on the Alladale Estate could show us whether these animalscan survive in the Highlands. But, a proposed ban of free public access to thereserve, visitors being charged to see the animals in their ‘natural’ environment behind an electrified fence, is confusing the bigger issue of whether we want to reintroduce these animals into the wild.
