This essay examines how small museums without substantial economic and technical resources can make their collections available online, and uses the Lärbro Hospital Museum as a case study. The work discusses what options there are for collections management databases for these kinds of museums, as well as some website platforms that might be helpful in creating a professional website where the collections can be accessed by the public. One of the collection management solutions are chosen as the most relevant for the Lärbro Hospital Museum (CatalogIt) and how to register and organize the different kinds of materials in this system is described. The Spectrum 5.0 standard for collection management is used to catalogue the collections. Lastly, some of the different choices that was made during the survey are discussed and the conclusion is that there are several options for the small, resourceless museum that wishes to organize and make their collections available online.
