Denna uppsats är en fallstudie om familjen Göthlins garderob, en dräkt-och modesamling som är en del av Göthlinska gårdens museisamling. Göthlinska gården är en museigård och byggnadsminne beläget i Nora. Samlingen består bland annat av kläder, skor,väskor och andra accessoarer från cirka 1870- till 1930-talet. Syftet var att identifiera eventuella konflikter mellan bruk och bevarande när det kom till familjen Göthlins garderob, och vilka följder det har lett till om det fanns konflikter. Motsättningar mellan bruk och bevarande när det kommer till museisamlingar är ett vanligt förekommande dilemma. Metod var att besöka Göthlinska gården för att observera och dokumentera familjens Göthlins garderob i dess nuvarande tillstånd för att se hur samlingen används och bevaras. Sedan skickades det ett frågeformulär till Göthlinska gården med frågor om deras mål och planer med deras föremålssamling och i förlängningen familjen Göthlins garderob. Svaren från frågeformuläret med observationen användes sedan i en GAP-analys för att identifiera konflikter. Resultat och slutsats kunde konstatera att det fanns konflikter mellan bruk och bevarande av familjen Göthlins garderob och att det hade lett till negativa konsekvenser. Varför konflikter hade uppstått beror främst på upplevd låg prioritering och resurser som inte finns, som kompetens och arbetskraft.

This essay is a case study of the Göthlin family's wardrobe, a costume and fashion collection that is part of the museum collection of Göthlinska gården. Göthlinska gården is a historic house museum and a listed building located in Nora, Sweden. The collection consists of clothes, shoes, bags and other accessories from around the 1870s to the 1930s. The aim was to identify any conflicts between use and preservation when it came to the Göthlin family's wardrobe, and what consequences this has led to if there were conflicts. Contradictions between use and preservation when it comes to museum collections is a common dilemma. The method was to visit Göthlinska gården to observe and document the Göthlin family's wardrobe in its current state to see how the collection is used and preserved. Then aquestionnaire was sent to Göthlinska gården with questions about their goals and plans with their object collection and by extension the Göthlin family's wardrobe. The responses from the questionnaire with the observation were then used in a GAP analysis to identify conflicts. Results and conclusion could state that there were conflicts between use and preservation of the Göthlin family's wardrobe and that this had led to negative consequences. Why conflicts had arisen is mainly due to perceived low prioritization and resources that do notexist, such as competence and manpower.
