Abstract [en]

Man's life has changed in many ways since technology made it’s entry for public at large. In response to this change the science of human-machine interaction was invented. It has in turn evolved into human-computer interaction. With this science the focus is on the customization of the system for the actual person who will use it.

The thesis has been implemented in a telecom company's development department. The implemented user adaptation has been on four different systems. Three of these have a common user interface, and the last is specially adapted for a cell phone, the iPhone.

The implementation began with a discussion of theories of human-computer interaction, where the focus has been on defining the users of the systems. There were also studies on how to design web pages. Similar systems available on the market were analyzed to better understand how improvements could be done. The systems that were to be changed were also analyzed. With the analysis and theory in the background the work could be started on how to develop the user profiles for the different systems. The evaluation of possible users came from discussions with the management. From this three user profiles were created that have been the foundation for the development of the user interfaces.

Finally, the methods used in the thesis were evaluated. This evaluation was also developed to show how well the interface fits the different user profiles. In addition the changes that have taken place were also analyzed. Comparison was made on the systems that existed before, and systems developed during the thesis work.
