Abstract [en]

This paper is about arranging and describing the personal archive of Mai Zetterling, which is preserved at the Swedish Film Institute in Stockholm. Mai Zetterling (1925 – 1994) was a Swedish actress and director, a pioneer as a female director in Swedish cinema in the ‘1960s. The author of this paper has arranged and described her records in 28 volumes. In this present paper it is discussed which archive scheme is the most appropriate for a film personal archive with the final proposal of an arrangement of the archives mainly based on film projects. The discussion takes as starting point the well-established personal archive scheme of Martin Grass, which is not specially adapted to cinema, and it continues with some examples of personal archives of film directors, both Swedish and international. At the end of the paper there is a description of the whole process of arranging and describing the records of Mai Zetterling.
