Abstract [en]

The Viking Age rune carvers sometimes signed their works, and over a hundred carvers in Sweden are known by name. Furtheremore, it is possible-on more or less certain evidence-to attribute several anonymous incriptions to these carvers. This is the case especially in the povinces of central Swede. The study of individual carvers is of great significance, among other things, in the dating of inscriptions. This index of the signed and attributed Viking Age inscriptions of central Sweden is intended to serve as a useful tool in comparative studies of different carvers. It comprises insciptions from Södermanland, Uppland, Västmanland and Gästrikland. Different authors´ opinions as to the attributions are reported of.
