Uppsala University, Disciplinary Domain of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Law, Department of Law.
2009 (English)In: Kansallinen oikeus ja liittovaltioistuva Eurooppa: National law and Europeanisation / [ed] Erkki J. Hollo, Helsinki: Suomalainen Lakimiesyhdistys, 2009, 29-61 p.Chapter in book (Other academic)
Abstract [en]

This chapter provides a thorough analysis of the changed legal landscape of family law in Europe, as a result of the European Union's legislative activities. Special attention is given to cross-border family relations. The Lisbon Treaty creates new challenges.  The nation-states' legislative autonomy is increasingly reduced. Whereas legal coherence may increase on a pan-European level, it has decreased on the national level.
