Abstract [en]

I have for my one year master's thesis worked on arranging and cataloging the archives of the Division of Scientific Computing at Uppsala University. In this memo, I discuss and problematize how this arranging and cataloging have been done. I describe how I cataloged the archive, how I defined the archive, what problems occurred and how preselection occurred. I also make a comparison of how the archive had been arranged and catalogued if I instead of the Swedish general archive description used the new process oriented archive description, particularly in what way the provenance had been affected. My conclusion is that I believe the provenance of the archive benefit from process oriented archival descriptions. This is largely because the record management no longer will be a final stop, but that as the archivist is to plan document management throughout the documents lifecycle. Another advantage is that the process-based document management plan can comply with business processes better than the general archive schedule.
