Abstract [en]

This paper presents examples of work on the lexical typological profile of Swedish based to a large extent on data from parallel corpora. The lexical typological profile of a language is an account of the distinctive character of its lexical structure in relation to other languages using various approaches to crosslinguistic lexicology which are briefly characterized in the introduction. The bulk of the paper describes the organization of the field of motion verbs in Swedish from a crosslinguistic perspective using data from translations of Swedish novels into English, German, French and Finnish.
