Abstract [en]

Archbishop Olof Sundby of Uppsala took during the cold war an initiative to call together 160 church leaders of protestant, anglican, catholic, orthodox and oriental orthodox tradition. The name of the conference in Uppsala 1983 was Life and Peace. They issued a statement on peace and a ban on nuclear weapons. They should be abolished within five years. One soncrete result of the conference was the creation of the Life&Peace Research Institute in Uppsala.
