Open access and clinicians – Survey on how specialists in prosthodontics have knowledge and use Open accessresources. (English)
In the last decade’s infomation technology changes has had an impact on the way scientific information isdistributed. A new concept is established in the scientific world: Open access. Open access means that scientificliterature may be read in full text and free of charge on the Internet. The aim of this two-year master’s thesis wasto investigate attitudes, uses and knowledge among prosthodontists in Sweden and Norway to Open access. The study was conducted through a web survey. The results of the survey show that the respondents were positive toOpen access. However, there is a lack of knowledge concerning quality assessment and financing of Openaccess. The study concludes that further information on the benefits of Open access is needed and that more studies measuring the effects of Open access to scientific literature among health personnel should be conducted
