Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Begreppet personcentrerad vård myntades av Michal Balint 1968. Begreppet

Resultat: Enligt

Abstract [en]

Background: The concept of person-centered care was founded by Michal Balint in 1968.

Personcentered–care as a concept is becoming increasingly more common in health care.

Aim: The aim of this study was to describe how clinical nurse specialists in psychiatry work

with person-centered care. Method: The study was a qualitative interview study with a

descriptive design and a semi-structured interviewing techninque. There were 12 clinical

nurse specialists working in psychiatry in a Swedish city that were interviewed. Result:

According to the clinical nurse specialists in this study they worked person-centered to a great

extent. The manifest analysis of the study was described in 13 categories how clinical nurse

specialists worked in a person-centered way in mental health care: flexible health care,

information, cooperation, careplan, patient approach, support self-determination, utilise self-

determination, participation, laws, requests, proper health care, holistic view, organization.

The result of the study described four themes of the latent analysis that included: individual-

adjusted care, respecting the patient and protection of patient autonomy, patients rights

in health care and health care resources in the organisation and the offering of proper

health care. Conclusion: The study showed that the clinical nurse specialists worked in a

person-centered way by adjusting the care to the individual’s needs, respecting the patient and

protecting the patients autonomy. They also considered patient rights in health care, used the

health care resources and offered proper health care. The clinical nurse specialists described

that it is possible to work person-centered to a greater extent within the organization than

what is done today, by reflecting on the consept of person-centered care and make it more

visibile in nursing care. The result of this study could be used to raise the interest to structure

and implement person-centered care in psychiatry.
