Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Aim: The aim of this thesis was to study adolescents pornography consumption, sexual behaviour, lifestyle and health to see if there were any differences between pornography consumers and non-consumers.

Method: A randomly selected sample of 53 classes of freshmen year high school students in 13 different schools in a medium sized and small sized city in Sweden. Data was collected with a questionnaire and analysed with chi-square-test and Mann-Whitney U-test.

Results: A majority group of adolescents have ever consumed pornography. Men consumed pornography more frequently, started to consume pornography at younger age and had more positive attitudes towards pornography than women. Women who where pornography consumers were more sexual experienced than those who did not. Associations where also found between pornography consumption and self-reported health.

Conclusion: Consumption of pornography is common among adolescents and is correlated with sexual behaviour, a hazardous lifestyle and self-reported health.
