Muslim Histories of China: Historiography across Boundaries in Central Eurasia
2012 (English)In: Frontiers and Boundaries: Encounters on China's Margins / [ed] Zsombor Rajkai, Ildikó Bellér-Hann, Wiesbaden: Harrassowitz Verlag , 2012, 151-176 p.Chapter in book (Other academic)
Abstract [en]

This article examines works by two Central Eurasian Muslim historians – Qurbān-‘Alī Khālidī and Mullā Mūsā Sayrāmī – who worked in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and whose attention to histories of non-Muslim and non-Central Eurasian societies was unusual.  It compares their work with better known histories of China by al-Mas‘ūdī and Rashīd ad-Dīn.
