Abstract [en]

This paper explores how ongoing changes in the global business environment, specifically the entry and internationalization of new competitors from the developing economies, influence the strategy and organization of already well-established multinational corporations (MNCs). It suggests the need for far-reaching and at the same time difficult changes for those MNCs who aspire to retain their competitiveness and positions over the years to come. Specifically, only those companies that develop the requisite managerial mindsets, flexible organizations, and resistance to institutional pressures can be expected to continue to prosper under the emerging new global business regime.
