Abstract [en]

This article presents four examples of how comics participated in shaping societal, political and cultural developments in the Nordic countries during the period of international conflict from the 1930s to the 1950s. The examples include the study of Danish political caricature in the 1930s , Finnish educational comics during WWII, comics as propaganda in Sweden during WWII and the emergence of a new kind of strip at the beginning of the Cold War.
