Improvising Two Different Responses to Persecution: First Peter’s Innovations and Relationship to the corpus Paulinum
Uppsala University, Disciplinary Domain of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Theology.
2013 (English)In: Bedrängnis und Identität : Studien zu Situation, Kommunikation und Theologie des 1. Petrusbriefs  / [ed] David S. du Toit, Berlin: Walter de Gruyter, 2013, 263-280 p.Chapter in book (Other academic)
Abstract [en]

First Peter is indebted to certain Pauline letters but also reflects developments beyond the corpus Paulinum. This paper examines one intriguing development in First Peter – its remarks on persecution. Christ-believers are to persist in “good works,” inspired by the (possibly naïve) hope that doing so will result in the conversion of the persecutors.
