Abstract [en]

Several studies have shown that there has been a trend towards fewer firms paying dividends. This has been shown to be the case in the United States as well as the European Union as a whole. This study examines Swedish firms over the time period of 1989 to 2012 and concludes that the same trend is present in among Swedish firms which have become less inclined to pay dividends. This trend appears to have begun around the turn of the millennium.
