Det finns såväl ekonomiska som sociala och miljömässiga skäl för att förtäta storstäderna, men lika viktigt är att man samtidigt lyckas behålla och utveckla grönområdena. Stadsplanerarens motsägelsefulla uppgift kan sammanfattas som ”kompakt utglesning”.
