Uppsala University, Humanistisk-samhällsvetenskapliga vetenskapsområdet, Faculty of Theology, Department of Theology.
1998 (English)Book (Other scientific)
Abstract [en]

The book -- the first general book on the subject in Swedish since the 1930s -- contains a comprehensive introduction to Gregorian chant. Account is taken of the findings in research over the last decades. An introduction to history of chant is followed up by a treatment of, i.a. notation, melos and modality, the relationship between word and music and problems regarding rhythm and performance.
