Abstract [en]

St Eugenios, allegedly martyred in Trebizond in the Pontos under Emperor Diocletian, appears as patron saint of his city from the 6th c. Most of the hagiographic documents concerning him are found in the Athos MS Dionysiou 154. The Dossier preserved in this MS contains an encomium on the martyr by Constantine Loukites (14th c.) and miracle stories, varying in age, collected by John Xiphilinos (11th c.) and John Lazaropoulos (14th c.). These Greek texts are here edited and translated; their historical background, especially as far as the Empire of Trebizond in the 14th c. is concerned, is traced in the Introduction; and details of the contents are discussed in the Commentary. Various indexes finish the volume.
