Abstract [en]

This report contains the design work

from a requirement specification, to

ideas and concepts, to prototype and

experiments. It is made for the

division of electricity at Uppsala

University in the division of wave

power. A manipulator is designed to

manipulate a specific cable and its

connectors. The manipulator will be

used for installation service and

maintenance in a wave power park.

Five concepts were generated and the

best one was used to manufacture a

prototype for testing and

demonstration the solution.

An experiment was conducted with the

prototype to find a friction

coefficient that was used for motor

calculations.

The prototype was successfully made

and can hopefully be used for future

development. Unsolved issues that need

attention in the future are: finding

materials, finding motors and ways to

seal them and finding another linear

guide.
