Abstract [sv]

Denna essä inleder med kommentarer rörande matematikens termer, speciellt dem som rör rum. Den nämner så de framgångsrika matematiska modeller som bygger på de reella talen och tar därefter upp diskreta modeller, som har helt  andra egenskaper. Knutna mattor och mosaiker är diskreta och kan ses som föregångare till den digitala geometrin. Genom datorernas utveckling har diskreta modeller blivit allt mer betydelsefulla. Avslutningsvis framförs vissa mer personliga varningar.
