Abstract [en]

Two soft and highly directive,proximity coupled split ring resonator antennafabricated with liquid metal alloy, copper and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) ispresented. The soft antenna is used for sensing, osteogenesis in skull implants andbone mineral density in defects after craniotomy surgery. The dielectric properties ofthe defects change during the healing. The soft antenna monitors the bone mineraldensity by differentiating this change in dielectric properties by exhibitingcorresponding shift in antennas resonance frequency. The simulated results were inagreement with measurement results on the fabricated phantom models. This small,cheap and portable system could be used in home care for post-operative bonehealing analysis for craniosynostosis patients.
