Speaking of "flum" (English)
Abstract [en]

The purpose of this essay is to explore how the Swedish word ”flum” is being expressed and made meaningful in speech. In English, words as flummery and hazy may imply similar connotations. The analysis is based on two semi-structured interviews, mainly focused on ”flum” in discourses of education, working life and cultural activities and expressions, and shows that the concept of  ”flum” is put to work as a border agent of normality.
