Abstract [en]

Changes in the competitive landscape enforce new requirements on information acquisition and knowledge integration for firms competing on innovation. This paper outlines some challenges for NPD projects with respect to information acquisition and knowledge integration. The paper centres on management of information and knowledge, and identifies five sub themes for future research (building upon the papers presented in this Special Issue). These sub-themes are the degree of uncertainty faced by NPD, managing tacit and explicit knowledge and information, managing knowledge and information 'outside' the firm, management of complementary knowledge in project-based organisations, NPD projects - organising for innovation. The paper ends with a section providing concluding remarks. © 2008, Inderscience Publishers.
