Abstract [en]

This thesis has been conducted in collaboration with Företaget AB in Uppsala,

Sweden. Företaget AB has launched a new kind of comfortable T-bar lift and this

report describes the development of Version II of this innovation. The aim has been

to ensure the quality, the choice of materials and further develop the product to

upgrade comfort. The result of the thesis is a recommendation to the company

regarding materials and manufacturing of Version II.

The theoretical roots came from the tools used in the design and development

process that follows. The work process began with generating a variety of feasible

suggestions. After culling among these the process continued with specifying

materials and the rib structure for the different concepts. Furthermore, using the

computerprogram SolidWorks several FEM analyzes were designed to test the

possible materials to a set number of requirements. The materials have also been

evaluated with manufacturing in mind. In the final phase of the evaluation process a

detailed description of the remaining proposals are given.

Three different proposals are put forward where the primary recommendation is

called "Förslag II". Förslag II is a product made of the same material and has the

same design as Företaget ABs previous version but with the addition of a soft

coating on the upper side of the seat. The coating is made of a durable type of

plastic foam, and will offer the passenger a very comfortable ride.
