    Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to analyze the rape discourse as it takes expression on the internet forum Flashback, with main focus on how victims and perpetrators are constructed and construct the concept of rape. The overall aim is to problematize the perception of interaction on the internet as something separate from the social interaction and the social reality, especially when it comes to norms and attitudes about rape. With the help of discourse theory as both theory and method the posts in the forum are analyzed from topic threads made through a strategic selection. The results of the analysis show that the concept of rape on Flashback is designed and challenged through a legal discourse, a biological discourse and an empathy discourse. Furthermore, the concept of rape is closely attached to the concept of blame. The victim and the offender are both created and create the concept of rape through their actions and identities connected to a definite pattern of actions that makes it virtually impossible to put the blame on the perpetrator unless he is of foreign origin. At Flashback immigrants equate to characteristics such as violent and sexual.  The rape discourse as it is expressed at Flashback shows many similarities with both Swedish and American research of the construction of victims and perpetrators and attitudes towards rape conducted over twenty years ago.
