    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this one-year master thesis in archival science was to examine how municipalities take regulations concerning public records into account when they use Facebook. Another aim was to examine the involvement of archivists, registrars or similar staff in the management of the regulations. Since Swedish archival theory and practice has a close connection to the application of these regulations, such an examination was hopefully going to reveal tendencies of importance for archival science. The method used to collect information was a web questionnaire and the result was based on answers from 21 municipalities with an official Facebook page. The questionnaire showed that six of the municipalities regarded documents originating from their Facebook page as public records. Three did not, and a large group had not yet decided how to treat these documents. Only three municipalities did archive documents from Facebook. The involvement of archivists, registrars and similar personnel was generally very small, even though regulations concerning public records had more often been taken into account in the municipalities that had informed this personnel about the use of an official Facebook page. The difference in management between the municipalities was together with the demand for national guiding principles indicating difficulties in applying the regulations to social medias like Facebook. The fact that most of the municipalities that had taken the regulations into account had come to the conclusion that Facebook generated public records, together with the fact that national guiding principles presented during the work with this thesis had the same interpretation, indicated that documents originating from Facebook will be a part of Swedish public records in the future. The difference in management and the demand for guidance also indicated a need for better division of responsibilities and a more active approach in the future, to ensure that the regulations concerning public records are taken into account early and correctly when authorities starts to use new medias.

    Abstract [en]

    The main purpose of this study is to make a critical examination of Rudolf Bultmann´s (1884–1976) and Wolfhart Pannenberg´s (b. 1928) interpretations of the resurrection of Jesus. Bultmann is best known for seeking to demythologize the miracles of the New Testament. Pannenberg has gained much attention for arguing that the resurrection of Jesus is an event in chronological history.

    In this thesis I first present Bultmann´s and Pannenberg´s interpretations of the resurrection of Jesus. In order to help the reader understand the context in which these interpretations were made, I give a brief sketch of the German theological setting. Second, I compare the theologies of Bultmann and Pannenberg from the concept of background theory, principles of interpretation, exegetical reasoning, the meaning of the resurrection and what it means to accept the resurrection. Third, I categorize different ways that the resurrection could be interpreted today. Fourth, I critically discuss the way that Bultmann and Pannenberg argue and give some proposals for how their theologies can be developed. Developing the theology of Bultmann I give more attention to chronological history than he does. I also make alterations in the way he understands God´s action. Concerning Pannenberg I discuss the importance of rational arguments in his theology. I argue that the resurrection should be interpreted from the perspective of a faith or an interpretation which seeks understanding.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this Master thesis is to give an account of and review the ideology yhat King presented through his preaching, speeches and other sources. The metod I have chosen for this purpose is to systematize King’s ideology and the to critically analyze it. When doing so I have discoverd that King’s non-violent ideology is coherent, but that his argumentation is somewhat defective, especially when examing its plausibility.                      King’s non-violence ideology was based on a theocentric wordview and a natural law pholosophy. He tought that all men are created in the image of God and that all humans have the possibility to do good. King’s non-violence ideology is based on active resistance where people use love and civil disobedience as tools to enforce subversive changes. King was against all types of violent actions and stated that violence never leads to sustainable change, that violence is immoral and unworthy of any human. King also said that non-violence is the only way to combat societal problems in a long-term perspective.

    Abstract [en]

    Megalithic tombs that originally date back to the early to mid-neolithic are the oldest preserved monument that can be found in Scandinavia. The act of raising big stone structures for the dead shows that the monuments where build to last through time. Prehistoric people from different time periods have reused these monuments on different locations all over Europe. This paper focuses on the monuments in Sweden and it shows that the reuse of megalithic monuments appears in all regions where these monuments can be found. The different reasons to why people wanted to reuse these monuments are also discussed. The paper proposes that the reasons are religious and political. Political the monuments can give inheritance rights which granted land rights among other things.

    Abstract [sv]

    Syftet med uppsatsen är att analysera och jämföra den engelska och tjeckiska översättningen av Stieg Larssons kriminalroman Män som hatar kvinnor och undersöka hur svenska kulturspecifika referenser har hanterats  och om de överatta texterna blev domesticerade (målspråksorienterade) eller exotiserade (källspråksorienterade). Detta undersöks genom att kategorisera de svenska kulturspecifika referenser som finns i boken och genom att kartlägga de översättningstekniker som översättarna använt sig av vid översättningen samt genom att utföra en statistisk analys av översättningsteknikernas fördelning i texterna. Eftersom vissa översättningstekniker bidrar till att den översatta texten blir domesticerad och vissa till att den blir exotiserad borde denna analys tydligt visa vilken global översättningsstrategi, d.v.s. domesticering eller exotisering, som tillämpats på båda måltexterna.

    Resultatet visar att det finns 306 svenska kulturspecifika referenser i boken Män som hatar kvinnor. Dessa har kategoriserats i kategorierna Geografiska namn; Personnamn; Institutioner, företag och organisationer; Mat och dryck; Politiska begrepp; Tidningar och TV; Högtider; Fordon och Övrigt. Dessa kulturspecifika referenser har översatts med hjälp av följande översättningstekniker: bevarande, förtydligande, direkt översättning,  etablerad motsvarighet, generalisering, kulturell motsvarighet och utelämnande. Kategorierna och översättningsteknikerna förklaras samt exempel på varje tas upp i uppsatsen.

    Den statistiska analysen av översättningsteknikerna har visat att de översatta texterna har blivit starkt exotiserade, d.v.s. källspråksorienterade. 80% av kulturspecifika referenser i målspråket tjeckiska har översatts på ett exoticerande sätt medan i målspråket engelska är det 89%. En stark exotisering av den översatta texten kan å ena sidan resultera i att texten blir svårläst, å andra sidan framhävs den främmande kulturen (den svenska kulturen i detta fall) och det kan vara en av anledningar till att svenska kriminalromaner har blivit så populära i hela världen.

    Abstract [en]

    When children encounter new subjects in school, they are also faced with new ways of using language. Learning science thus means learning the language of science, and writing is one of the ways this is accomplished. The present study investigates writing in natural sciences in grades 5 and 8 in Swedish schools. Major theoretical influences for these investigations are found within the socio-cultural, dialogical and social semiotic perspectives on language use.

    The study is based on texts written by 97 students, interviews around these texts and observations from 16 different classroom practices. Writing is seen as a situated practice; therefore analysis is carried out of the activities surrounding the texts. The student texts are analysed in terms of genre and in relation to their abstraction, density and use of expansions. This analysis shows among other things that the texts show increasing abstraction and density with increasing age, whereas the text structure and the use of expansions do not increase.

    It is also argued that a central point in school writing must be the students’ way of talking about their texts. Analysis of interviews with the students is thus carried out in terms of text movability. The results from this analysis indicate that students find it difficult to talk about their texts. They find it hard to express the main content of the text, as well as to discuss it’s function and potential readers.

    Previous studies argue that writing constitutes a potential for learning. In the material studied in this thesis, this potential learning tool is not used to any large extent. To be able to participate in natural sciences in higher levels, students need to take part in practices where the specialized language of natural science is used in writing as well as in speech.

    Att lära sig ett nytt ämnesområde innebär även att lära sig det språk som används inom det området. Tidigare forskning visar att det är nödvändigt att lära sig att skriva inom till exempel de olika naturvetenskapliga genrerna för att bli en kompetent elev inom detta område (se t ex Halliday & Martin 1993, Wignell, 1998).

     

    I denna presentation vill jag närmare diskutera expansioner i texter skrivna av elever i skolår 5 och 8 i NO och SO-ämnena. Genom expansioner byggs semantiska relationer mellan händelser genom satser som definierar (’alltså’, ’med andra ord’), bygger ut (’och’, ’men’) eller specificerar (’sen’, ’för att’) den inledande satsen (Halliday & Matthiessen 2004).  Expansioner har diskuterats som en viktig del av den vetenskapliga diskursen, både i sig själva och även som ett uttryck för elevernas förståelse av vad de skriver (Keys 1999). I presentationen diskuterar jag graden av expansioner i texterna i relation till hur eleverna talar om sina texter, deras textrörlighet. Det visar sig bland annat att framför allt högpresterande elever har en högre textrörlighet i de texter som även har en högre grad av expansioner.

    Att uttrycka exempelvis kausalitet, hänvisningar till tid och plats, exemplifieringar eller motsatsförhållanden är något som ofta diskuteras som centralt för en ”lyckad” text. Det visar sig dock att elever gör detta i varierande grad, och att graden av sammanhang i texterna i hög grad varierar med textaktiviteten (af Geijerstam, 2006). Det är också relevant att undersöka hur relationer av detta slag uttrycks i texter elever möter i test. I denna presentation fokuseras de informativa texter som ingår i läsförståelseprovet PIRLS 2006.

    Expansionsrelationer som uttrycks i texten samt vilka funktionella relationer som finns mellan satser diskuteras. Analysen av sammanhang i texten utgår från Hallidays system för satskoppling (Halliday 2004), och kompletteras med analys av de funktionella relationerna mellan enheterna (Mann & Thompson 1988, Evensen 2005).

    Erik Ageberg: Who's that girl? – Skivbolagskultur och dess påverkan på Robyn. Uppsala Universitet: Institutionen för Musikvetenskap. C-uppsats, 2006.

    Robyn has been one of the most successful Swedish pop stars during the last decade. She has during these ten last years gone from being a young star to being the owner of her own record label, Konichiwa Records. As a result of her last record she became an artist, highly respected by her fellow artists and the audience. The aim of this essay is to discuss the term artistic freedom in the light of Robyn's career. The organization of the music industry is the starting point of the discussion. The way the record companies create their artists are linked to the demands of the public regarding the music they wish to purchase. Accordingly, the artistic freedom is limited by the public in an indirect manner. When artists refer to artistic freedom, or lack of it, it is the author's opinion that it should be understood as a confusion of conceptual arguments. The claim of this thesis is that as the artist refers to the negligence of artistic freedom he or she is in fact targeting on the organizational culture of the music company.

    Abstract [en]

    This essay presents an example of the musical life of a female composer active in Sweden during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Through a case study on composer Sara Wennerberg-Reuter (1875-1959), the essay contributes information to her biography, which had been lacking specific details.

    Wennerberg-Reuter's biography has been discussed regarding traditional roles of women in music, her relationship to her own artistry and other active women composers, and finally the contemporary reception of Wennerberg-Reuter as a legitimate composer. Aesthetical theories prevalent during Wennerberg-Reuter’s life has been applied in these discussions, such as those presented by Citron, Öhrström and Hanson, combined with Citron's additional theories considering masculine/feminine elements in the musical approach.

    The main conclusions reached regarding the specific conditions enabling a professional status as a composer and woman in Sweden during the given time are;

    a) the liberal permission by the family to pursue higher education in composing, since this was in opposition to the traditions of the time.

    b) the access to a network of musically active women, from which a sense of being part of a female community can be created.

    c) the acceptance from musical institutions such as higher educations, composer's societies and media critics.

    This thesis is based on the demise of industry that has led to a search for new solutions for the survival of smaller communities traditionally dependent on industrial production. In two local industrial communities in central and northern Sweden, Surahammar and Timrå, industrial dependency has gradually been replaced by a dependency on immigration, largely from the neighboring cities of Västerås and Sundsvall. In the changed order of these local communities, old and new inhabitants have had to negotiate positions in order to co-exist. The objective of the thesis is to present how old and new inhabitants relate to and are attached to the local community as a place in which they reside and live their lives. In focus is an interest in the local identity construction of the inhabitants, i.e. how they identify with the place in which they dwell and live their everyday lives, with and in reference to each other and the outside world. Another concern relates to just how different local options for identification can be for individuals and for collective groups of people.

    Adopting a phenomenological and constructivist perspective, I regard local place as something that both old and new inhabitants are shaped by and shape in a collective process based on contrasts. The analysis is based on empirical data gathered during several years of fieldwork in the studied communities. The empirical data mainly consists of interviews and participant observations with old and new inhabitants in Surahammar and Timrå. Moreover, biographical literature, newspaper articles and data retrieved from the Internet have contributed important insights into how the local place is experienced and valued among the different groups of inhabitants. The thesis recognises the values and symbols that old and new inhabitants agree upon and that often result in spatial attachments. In addition, ideological, social and cultural differences are depicted as factors that shape a place as old and new inhabitants articulate local attachment and identification based on different grounds, needs and dreams.
