How accurate is the quantum string Bethe ansatz?2006Inngår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP), ISSN 1126-6708, E-ISSN 1029-8479, nr 12, s. 020-Artikkel i tidsskrift (Fagfellevurdert)

We compare solutions of the quantum string Bethe equations with explicit one-loop calculations in the sigma-model on AdS(5) x S-5. The Bethe ansatz exactly reproduces the spectrum of infinitely long strings. When the length is finite, we find that deviations from the exact answer arise which are exponentially small in the string length.

Higgs effect in consistent Kaluza-Klein models with branes2010Inngår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP), ISSN 1126-6708, E-ISSN 1029-8479Artikkel i tidsskrift (Annet vitenskapelig)

We continue consideration of models where the Higgs effect is produced by the presence of 3-brane fluctuating in compact extra dimensions. The consistent examples of such models may be obtained from previously known solutions of 6D supergravity. The low-energy limit for these models coincides with a version of Higgs model written in terms of gauge-invariant supercurrent variables. We also elaborate on vortices in the Abelian version of the theory and show how vortices that are singular from the 4D point of view become allowed due to higher-dimensional resolution of singularity.

On polyvector fields in instantonic theories, geometric formalism  and A-I-B mirrorInngår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP), ISSN 1126-6708, E-ISSN 1029-8479Artikkel i tidsskrift (Annet vitenskapelig)

We develop the geometric formulation for SUSY theories  proposed by Frenkel, Losev and Nekrasov. The formalism is based on localization on instanton moduli spaceand it's deformation and  leads to a rich family of  non-perturbatively well-defined QFTs. Among these theories are the Morse theory, $\beta\gamma-bc$ system and A-model type theories, but with more effort much widerrange of theories may be covered.  The advantage of geometric formalism is it's explicit target space coordinate-independence.  We develop further the geometric formalism and study in detail the relation of this formalism with the conventional ones.  We study the ways to define polyvector field observables in a coordinate-independent wayand compare it to free-field methods.

We investigate the local limit of polyvector fields: for holomorphic polyvector fields we find a nice symmetric regularization prescription, while for non-holomorphic vector fields there arises an interesting dependence on the angleof point-splitting.

Comparing the geometric calculation with free-field approach to first-order non-linear sigma-models based on holomortices, we show the origin of conditionally convergent integrals in the latter approach and prove the way to deal with them.

Hiding Higgs with BraneInngår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP), ISSN 1126-6708, E-ISSN 1029-8479Artikkel i tidsskrift (Annet vitenskapelig)

We present a Kaluza-Klein approach to the bosonic part of the Einstein- Weinberg-Salam model. For this we consider a seven dimensional space-time where a Nambu three-brane interacts with Einstein gravity. The internal space is a squashed three- sphere, and the squashing parameter unifies the weak and the electromagnetic couplings. The vector boson masses have their origin in the seven dimensional fluctuations of the three-brane. The modulus of the Higgs boson metamorphoses into the conformal scale of the four dimensional metric tensor, it is only visible as a local scale of time and distance.

On thermodynamics of N=6 superconformal Chern-Simons theory2010Inngår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP), ISSN 1126-6708, E-ISSN 1029-8479, nr 4, s. 002-Artikkel i tidsskrift (Fagfellevurdert)

We study thermodynamics of N = 6 superconformal Chern-Simons theory by computing quantum corrections to the free energy. We find that in weakly coupled ABJM theory on R-2 x S-1, the leading correction is non-analytic in the 't Hooft coupling lambda, and is approximately of order lambda(2) log(lambda)(3). The free energy is expressed in terms of the scalar thermal mass m, which is generated by screening effects. We show that this mass vanishes to 1-loop order. We then go on to 2-loop order where we find a finite and positive mass squared m(2). We discuss differences in the calculation between Coulomb and Lorentz gauge. Our results indicate that the free energy is a monotonic function in lambda which interpolates smoothly to the N-3/2 behaviour at strong coupling.

Anomalous dimensions in the WF O(N) model with a monodromy line defect2018Inngår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP), ISSN 1126-6708, E-ISSN 1029-8479, nr 3, artikkel-id 058Artikkel i tidsskrift (Fagfellevurdert)

Implications of inserting a conformal, monodromy line defect in three dimensional O(N) models are studied. We consider then the WF O(N) model, and study the two-point Green's function for bulk-local operators found from both the bulk-defect expansion and Feynman diagrams. This yields the anomalous dimensions for bulk-and defect-local primaries as well as one of the OPE coefficients as epsilon-expansions to the first loop order. As a check on our results, we study the (phi(k))(2)phi(j) operator both using the bulk-defect expansion as well as the equations of motion.

A combinatoric shortcut to evaluate CHY-forms2017Inngår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP), ISSN 1126-6708, E-ISSN 1029-8479, nr 6, artikkel-id 015Artikkel i tidsskrift (Fagfellevurdert)

In our recent work, we proposed a differential operator for the evaluation of the multi-dimensional residues on isolated (zero-dimensional) poles. In this paper we discuss some new insight on evaluating the (generalized) Cachazo-He-Yuan (CHY) forms of the scattering amplitudes using this differential operator. We introduce a tableau representation for the coefficients appearing in the proposed differential operator. Combining the tableaux with the polynomial form of the scattering equations, the evaluation of the generalized CHY form becomes a simple combinatoric problem. It is thus possible to obtain the coefficients arising in the differential operator in a straightforward way. We present the procedure for a complete solution of the n-gon amplitudes at one-loop level in a generalized CHY form. We also apply our method to fully evaluate the one-loop five-point amplitude in the maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory; the final result is identical to the one obtained by Q-Cut.

A differential operator for integrating one-loop scattering equations2017Inngår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP), ISSN 1126-6708, E-ISSN 1029-8479, nr 1, artikkel-id 028Artikkel i tidsskrift (Fagfellevurdert)

We propose a differential operator for computing the residues associated with a class of meromorphic n-forms that frequently appear in the Cachazo-He-Yuan form of the scattering amplitudes. This differential operator is conjectured to be uniquely determined by the local duality theorem and the intersection number of the divisors in the n-form. We use the operator to evaluate the one-loop integrand of Yang-Mills theory from their generalized CHY formulae. The method can reduce the complexity of the calculation. In addition, the expression for the 1-loop four-point Yang-Mills integrand obtained in our approach has a clear correspondence with the Q-cut results.

One-point functions in β-deformed N=4 SYM with defect2018Inngår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP), ISSN 1126-6708, E-ISSN 1029-8479, Vol. 114, s. 1-18Artikkel i tidsskrift (Fagfellevurdert)

We generalize earlier results on one-point functions in N=4 SYM with a codimension one defect, dual to the D3-D5-brane setup in type IIB string theory on AdS5 ×S5, to a similar setup in the β-deformed version of the theory. The treelevel vacuum expectation values of single-trace operators in the two-scalar-subsector are expressed as overlaps between a matrix product state (MPS) and Bethe states in the corresponding twisted spin-chain picture. We comment on the properties of this MPS and present the simplest analytical overlaps and their behavior in a certain limit (of large k). Importantly, we note that the deformation alters earlier interpretations of the MPS as an integrable boundary state, seemingly obstructing simplifications of the overlaps analogous to the compact determinant formula found in the non-deformed theory. The results are supplemented with some supporting numerical results for operators of length eight with four excitations.

The holographic dual of N = 2*, D = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory has many features common to 5d CFT. We interpret this as a manifestation of Eguchi-Kawai mechanism.

Worldsheet spectrum in AdS(4)/CFT3 correspondence2009Inngår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP), ISSN 1126-6708, E-ISSN 1029-8479, nr 4, s. 135-Artikkel i tidsskrift (Fagfellevurdert)

The AdS(4)/CFT3 duality is a new example of an integrable and exactly solvable AdS/CFT system. There is, however, a puzzling mismatch between the number of degrees of freedom used in the exact solution (4(B) + 4(F) scattering states) and 8(B) + 8(F) transverse oscillation modes of critical superstring theory. We off er a resolution of this puzzle by arguing that half of the string modes dissolve in the continuum of two-particle states once alpha' corrections are taken into account. We also check that the conjectured exact S-matrix of AdS(4)/CFT3 [1] agrees with the tree-level worldsheet calculation.

Holographic three-point functions of semiclassical states2010Inngår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP), ISSN 1126-6708, E-ISSN 1029-8479, nr 9, s. 030-Artikkel i tidsskrift (Fagfellevurdert)

We calculate the holographic three-point functions in N = 4 super-Yang-Mills theory in the case when two of the operators are semiclassical and one is dual to a supergravity mode. We further discuss the transition to the regime when all three operators are semiclassical.

Strings on semisymmetric superspaces2010Inngår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP), ISSN 1126-6708, E-ISSN 1029-8479, nr 5, s. 002-Artikkel i tidsskrift (Fagfellevurdert)

Several string backgrounds which arise in the AdS/CFT correspondence are described by integrable sigma-models. Their target space is always a Z(4) supercoset (a semi-symmetric superspace). Here we list all semi-symmetric cosets which have zero beta function and central charge c <= 26 at one loop in perturbation theory.

Finite size giant magnons in the SU(2) × SU(2) sector of AdS4 × CP32008Inngår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP), ISSN 1126-6708, E-ISSN 1029-8479, Vol. 12, s. 073-Artikkel i tidsskrift (Fagfellevurdert)

We use the algebraic curve and Lüscher's μ-term to calculate the leading order finite size corrections to the dispersion relation of giant magnons in the SU(2) × SU(2) sector of AdS4 × CP3. We consider a single magnon as well as one magnon in each SU(2). In addition the algebraic curve computation is generalized to give the leading order correction for an arbitrary multi-magnon state in the SU(2) × SU(2) sector.
