Title [sv]
Svängningskretsar Baserade på Negativ Resistans i Diamant
Title [en]
Transferred Electron Oscillators in Diamond
Abstract [sv]
The recently discovered phenomenon of negative differential resistance (NDR) in diamond by our group (published in Applied Physics Letters in April 2012) is a breakthrough that will open up the route to the first commercial devices in diamond. The NDR, combined with the timing properties of a drift layer, allows construction of a high-power microwave relaxation oscillator, working at GHz or THz frequencies, simply by applying a direct current through the device mounted in a suitably tuned cavity or waveguide. The purpose of this research proposal is to demonstrate such a working device. Applications includes e.g. anti collision radar, body scanners, medical imaging and many more.
