Title [sv]
Ultrasnabb spinn- och laddningsdynamik undersökt med femtosekunder Röntgenspektroskopi
Title [en]
Ultrafast spin and charge dynamics probed with femtosecond X-ray spectroscopy
Abstract [sv]
X-ray spectroscopy can ideally be used to investigate element-selectively electronic and magnetic properties of materials. A newer development taking place in the last years is the construction of novel X-ray sources that can deliver brilliant, ultrashort X-ray pulses (from the XUV to hard X-ray regime) with durations in the atto- to femto-second domain. These intensive coherent X-ray pulses have just started to open up a completely new insight in entangled charge and spin dynamics occurring on ultrashort timescales that were previously inaccessible to mankind. In the near future a continuous stream of discoveries of totally new and unexpected phenomena can be anticipated. The theoretical framework to describe the dynamical interactions of the material´s charges and spins with such intensive, short radiation pulses is however missing. Here we propose to establish such theoretical framework, which is expected to increase markedly the fundamental understanding of ultrafast processes and spectroscopy, as well as to advance considerably the research field of ultrafast science.
