The Nordic College of Caring Science (NCCS) stand as the umbrella organisation for the two other branches: Nordic College of Caring Science Foundation (NCCSF) and the Scandinavian Journal of Caring Science (SJCS). All three branches have a common objective to promote caring science research in relation to health, well-being, illness and human suffering. The aim and scope of all three branches, as defined in the bylaws of NCCS, is to develop, to support and to disseminate scientific knowledge on caring.
With this editorial, we want to invite you, the reader, to take part in a research dialogue about what caring science is [1-5]. Caring science's mission, from NCCS's point of view, is to serve people who are sick, who suffer and who need treatment and thus care. It is a basic aspect of life that must be seen and recognised. However, we may have different approaches to our mission: ontologically, epistemologically, and methodologically [6-8]. Within this understanding, NCCS has a function to develop, support and disseminate caring science.
