Investigating the relationships between flexible work arrangements, job satisfaction and turnover intention in Sweden : An analysis of ISSP 2015 -dataset (English)
Abstract [en]

Previous research suggests that employees repay flexible work arrangements with better work attitudes like higher job satisfaction and lower turnover intention. Based on the Conservation of Resource Theory and Social Exchange Theory, the aim with this thesis was to investigate the relations between three aspects of flexible work arrangement (flex time, flex leave and work from home) and job satisfaction as well as turnover intentions in the sample of Swedish workers and provide insights for organizations and policymakers. Data were drawn from the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) Work Orientation IV round from 2015. Results confirm the previous research, such as a difference in job satisfaction for works with flex time and without as well as a positive relation between flex leave and job satisfaction. Results also showed that more flex leave workers had, the less likely they wanted to change employers, also confirming previous research. The thesis found no significant relation between work from home and job satisfaction or turnover intention. The thesis found no significant relation between work from home and job satisfaction or turnover intention. This thesis suggests further research that can be done to explore the full scope and practical implcations of having flexible work arrangements for workers in Sweden.
