Development of a Geological Model Based on Borehole and Drill Rig Data: A Pilot Study for Sustainable Drilling at Epiroc’s Test Center in Örebro (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Many actors within the mining and infrastructure sectors aim to carry out their processes withminimal environmental impact, through investments in digitalization, automation, and improvedgeological investigations prior to drilling. This pilot study examines the need for a geological modelto support drilling planning, with a focus on both environmental and economic sustainability. Thepurpose of the study is to develop a geological model of a test area based on data from boreholes anddrill rigs. The model was developed through core logging, analysis of previous drilling parametersand review of earlier studies. These methods can be classified as quantitative. The preliminary resultsshow a high-resolution geological model with a large amount of detail. The geology primarilyconsists of granite, granodiorite, metagreywacke, and amphibolite. A potential correlation has beenidentified between drilling performance and the lithological composition and mineralogy. This pilotstudy may serve as a foundation for further research on strategies for sustainable drilling.
