The data collected from social media and alma.se includes personal information (photographs and Instagram aliases). This collection is justified by public interest (Regulation (EU) 2016/679). All data was publicly shared by the ALMA office via its open digital channels (Instagram, Facebook, and alma.se) to promote and communicate its activities to a broad audience. Individuals shown in images or identified by aliases are participating professionally in ALMA-organised activities, where publication implies an expectation of public exposure. We assess that this research concerns the organisation’s public communication and marketing and may therefore be exempt from informed consent requirements (NESH 9–12; VR 70). Data processing is further detailed in the project’s data management plan. The images reproduced in the article are slightly cropped.
